We're hiring an Associate Data Engineer to join our Homes data platform team to help us build our next generation data platform and pipelines, and inspire best practices for data within Zoopla.

As an Associate Data Engineer at Houseful you will:

  • Assist in building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines to process data from various sources using AWS technologies.
  • Participate in data quality improvements by implementing validation checks, monitoring data accuracy, and resolving any data inconsistencies in collaboration with senior engineers.
  • Support the development and maintenance of data warehousing solutions, such as AWS Redshift or Databricks, ensuring alignment with business requirements.
  • Collaborate with data analytic engineers, software engineers, data analysts, and data scientists to facilitate data availability and quality for model training and evaluation.
  • Monitor data pipelines and queries, helping to identify and address performance issues under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Contribute to the setup and maintenance of monitoring and alerting systems to manage data infrastructure health.
  • Help maintain documentation for data systems, processes, and workflows.
  • Follow data engineering best practices, including data governance and data security, as directed by senior team members.

Desirable skills:

  • Basic proficiency in Python and SQL (familiarity with Spark and DBT is a bonus).
  • Some experience with Cloud technologies (AWS is preferred but not mandatory)
  • Exposure to building data pipelines or working with data warehouses.
  • Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Introduction to Terraform or similar Infrastructure as Code (IaC) platforms.
  • Previous experience as either a data engineer or wanting to transition from a similar role such as data analyst, data analytics engineer or software engineering.
